TWICE’s Jeongyeon was caught up in another “weight controversy”
On July 12th, Jeongyeon departed for Osaka, Japan via Gimpo Airport for an overseas schedule. She sported a casual chic look with a black short-sleeve T-shirt and pants.
However, once her airport departure photos were released, some comments about her weight surfaced again, causing discomfort.
As fans and the general public are aware, Jeongyeon has been dealing with Cushing’s syndrome due to steroid treatment after a neck disc surgery in 2020. Cushing’s syndrome is characterized by the overproduction of cortisol, leading to rapid weight gain.
This is a health-related issue rather than a lack of self-management. The condition has caused her to experience significant weight fluctuations, which have been subject to public scrutiny. Jeongyeon has had to pause her activities four times due to her illness and anxiety disorder.
Criticizing Jeongyeon solely based on her appearance is seen as inappropriate, especially given her efforts to honor her commitments to fans and her fellow members despite her challenges.
Netizens have voiced their support, stating that health issues are beyond one’s control and that such negative comments are unwarranted. They emphasized that mocking someone over medication side effects is excessive and unnecessary.
