NMIXX recently appeared on the YouTube channel ‘MMTG Civilization Express.’ During the show, host Jaejae introduced “Mix Pop” by singing a medley that included SHINee’s “Lucifer,” the children’s song “Crocodile,” and the anime “Pokémon” OST alongside the song “Dokdo Is Our Land.” Following this, NMIXX members each took turns singing lines from the songs: “If you tie me up and lock me away (‘Lucifer,’ Haewon),” “200 ri along the sea route (‘Dokdo Is Our Land,’ Seol Yoon),” “Butterfree Yadon (‘Pokémon’ OST, Jiwoo),” “Hometown of birds (‘Dokdo Is Our Land,’ Lily),” “No matter how much anyone insists it’s their land (‘Dokdo Is Our Land,’ Bae),” and “The crocodiles are coming out (‘Crocodile,’ Kyujin).”
However, NMIXX’s performance of “Dokdo Is Our Land” led to a flood of hate comments accusing them of “anti-Japanese actions.”
Some Japanese netizens bombarded them with hate comments such as “I won’t support NMIXX” and “Be prepared if you plan to continue activities in Japan.” Some even criticized their actions as disrespectful to Sana, Mina, and Momo, the Japanese members of TWICE, who are from the same agency, JYP Entertainment, which was met with ridicule.
NMIXX is currently enjoying popularity, having won 1st place on KBS2’s ‘Music Bank’ with their recent title track “Love Me Like This” from their album Fe3O4: STICK OUT, released last month. They are also set to hold their second fan concert from October 4th to 6th at the Jangchung Gymnasium in Seoul.
