On the November 29 broadcast of SBS Power FM’s “Cultwo Show”, Koyote’s Baekga appeared as a special DJ, joined by guests Lee Jaewon from H.O.T. and Girls’ Generation’s Hyoyeon for the “Don’t Do That!” segment.
During the broadcast, Hyoyeon shared, “Back when we were trainees, we always bowed 90 degrees to the people delivering food to us. You punks!” she jokingly exclaimed, pretending to scold while proudly reminiscing.
Hyoyeon later revisited the topic of greetings, describing it as her sole regret. “If there’s one thing that’s disappointing, it’s greetings,” she said. Acknowledging her strict stance, she admitted, “Even I think I might be a bit old-fashioned about this.”
Baekga and Kim Taegyun, however, supported her, “It’s not being old-fashioned to expect proper greetings,” and, “I think greetings are very important.”
Lee Jaewon asked, “When you go to broadcast stations, do junior artists all come to greet you?” to which Hyoyeon responded, “These days, they don’t greet us at all.”
Lee Jaewon added, “Last time, some didn’t greet me either…”
Baekga chimed in, “When we go to broadcast stations for album promotions, we don’t let others come to greet us. It feels awkward when they line up as a group. Nowadays, we don’t know who’s who, and suddenly someone enters saying, ‘Who are you?’ only to find out they’re a PD (producer). Back in the day, we lined up to greet others, but now, PDs come to thank us instead. It feels strange.”
Hyoyeon explained her own stance, “I also don’t like receiving greetings, so I don’t let them come to me. However, when passing by in the hallway, I feel at least a nod or eye contact should happen.” She noted that nowadays, “They don’t even make eye contact, so they don’t greet at all.”
Previously, Oh My Girl’s Seunghee also expressed her regret over the disappearance of the idol senior-junior greeting culture. She mentioned, “The tradition of greeting everyone in the waiting rooms has disappeared. Now, people just exchange eye contact in the hallways.“
