On the August 23 episode of KBS 2TV’s “Stars’ Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant”, Lee Sang-woo showcased his romantic side.
This is the first time the 20-year veteran actor and devoted husband to Kim So-yeon made his appearance on the show. He revealed that preparing for his appearance on “Stars’ Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant” took a total of 5 years and 120 days: 3 years for mental preparation, 2 years for serious consideration, and 120 days to get their new home ready.
Lee Sang-woo also gave a first look at the new honeymoon home he and Kim So-yeon have recently acquired, sharing, “I’m still getting used to the new house. Previously, I lived alone, and Kim So-yeon moved in with me. After 7 years of marriage, we’ve finally settled into our first home together.”
Lee Sang-woo and Kim So-yeon’s new home, boasting a stunning view of the Han River, is striking with its clean and modern interior design. It turns out that creating this stylish new abode took a substantial effort: 100 days for the interior design alone, a year of preparation, six months of construction, and 20 days for the actual move.
Lee Sang-woo revealed, “I started visiting factories and showrooms a year ago to make selections. I checked and communicated in real-time more than 100 times,” which left many impressed.
When MC Boom inquired, “Was it really necessary to visit the factories? Didn’t they bring samples to you?” Lee Sang-woo explained, “If I had only looked at samples, it would have been too limited. I ended up making many suggestions myself. Even the experts said it was their first time dealing with such a situation.”
Lee Sang-woo’s attention to details in the interior design was driven by a desire to ensure his wife Kim So-yeon’s comfort.
He personally designed everything from the kitchen lighting to the home café space. Additionally, he installed a fireplace, which was something Kim So-yeon had always wanted, showcasing his dedication as a devoted husband.
Lee Sang-woo added, “For the first time, I was able to do everything I wanted, so I made sure to include all the things I desired.”
Soon after, Lee Sang-woo began preparing the meal in an outfit that defied expectations. He appeared in the kitchen wearing a white lab coat, as if performing a ritual, and completed the look with a headband that revealed his forehead. Lee Sang-woo explained, “I studied Food Biotechnology in college, and this is the lab coat I used to wear. I use it instead of an apron. So-yeon loves it when I cook in this outfit.” At first glance, his attire seemed more suited for a lab than a kitchen, but it brought a lot of laughs and drew attention throughout the cooking process.
He prepared braised short ribs. Lee Sang-woo explained his choice, saying, “So-yeon loves braised short ribs, so I put all my effort into it to support her new drama.”
After spending five days just cooking, he sent a picture of the completed dish to his wife. Kim So-yeon was impressed by the delicious-looking short ribs. She praised him warmly, saying, “Finally, we get to eat the braised short ribs that took five days to make!”
Following this, Lee Sang-woo sent the braised short ribs to Kim So-yeon’s script reading session as a gesture of support. Kim So-yeon, expressing her gratitude, shared, “Thank you. We’ll all enjoy it together. It really motivates me.”
Lee Sang-woo responded, “So-yeon said it was delicious. I believe that when you put effort into something, it always turns out well. It seems that the person who puts in the effort is reflected in the meal enjoyed by others.”
When asked if he still feels flustered after seven years of marriage, he answered, “I would rather say I am maintaining the same feelings as at the start than being flustered,” leaving everyone impressed.
