On October 15, at 2:30 PM, NewJeans’ Hanni appeared as a witness during the National Assembly audit, which involved the Environment and Labor Committee and the Economic, Social, and Labor Committee.
In her final remarks, Hanni, teary-eyed, said, “I am grateful to the members of the National Assembly for creating this opportunity. Today’s session is focused on issues like workplace bullying and ostracism. From my own experience, I’ve come to realize that laws alone can’t solve every problem in the world. But I do believe that if we all respect one another as human beings, workplace bullying and ostracism could disappear.”
She continued, “I hope that no seniors, peers, juniors, or trainees have to worry about these issues. I’ve seen many people express concern for us, and I am deeply thankful for that,” shedding tears.
Hanni also added, “I’ve seen many comments asking why I had to go through this in Korea. But there’s no need for anyone to feel sorry because Korea is the country that allowed me to meet my members and staff, who feel like family to me, and to do the work I love.”

She further expressed her frustration, saying, “Those who should be apologizing should come forward openly and without hiding, but the fact that they avoid facing this is very frustrating.”
Lastly, Hanni shared a smile and said, “I don’t know how else to express my gratitude, but even the Australian Embassy contacted my parents out of concern. Just hearing that they were worried and willing to help was deeply appreciated. If I ever have to come forward again, I’ll work harder on my Korean studies before doing so. Thank you.”
