During IVE’s ongoing tour, ‘SHOW WHAT I HAVE,’ the group took the stage at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena on March 24, 2024.
Before the performance, Jang Wonyoung, along with Liz and Yujin, caught a glimpse of the NBA action between the Atlanta Hawks and Charlotte Hornets at the same venue.

Their presence at the game didn’t go unnoticed, sparking discussions across social media platforms. An influential account, formerly known as About Music and now X, initially shared a post, later deleted, claiming that “Wonyoung was seen enjoying a basketball game in her hometown, Atlanta.”
The revelation that Wonyoung might have roots in Atlanta surprised many, quickly spreading across the internet. Some residents of Atlanta even began embracing her as a local.
Contrary to these rumors, Wonyoung’s origins lie in Seoul, South Korea. Speculation about her Taiwanese heritage has circulated, suggesting her mother has Taiwanese ancestry and her father, though ethnically Korean, spent part of his childhood in Taiwan.

Known for her linguistic abilities in Korean, English, and basic Japanese, details about Wonyoung’s upbringing remain relatively scarce. Fan communities have pieced together that she attended Seoul Shinyonsan Elementary School and Yonggang Middle School before opting for homeschooling until completing middle school. Last year, she graduated from the School of Performing Arts Seoul (SOPA). However, it’s only recently come to light that she spent significant periods in the United States during her formative years.
During a recent concert, Wonyoung shared her fondness for Atlanta and also disclosed her English name, Vicky.
