Recently, Jennie (BLACKPINK) held a series of concerts titled “The Ruby Experience” to promote her “Ruby” album in Los Angeles, New York, and soon in Seoul, South Korea.

One of the most talked-about moments during the event was when Jennie performed “twin” and broke down in tears. In a previous interview with Apple Music, she admitted that the song was like a letter, written about someone specific. This statement only fueled fans’ curiosity about who could have evoked such deep emotions from her.

Many initially speculated that “twin” was a song directed at Jennie’s past relationships, possibly referring to G-DragonKai (EXO), or V (BTS). Among them, G-Dragon was the most widely suspected due to the lyrics mentioning, “we’ve been together for 10 years,” which coincides with the length of their known acquaintance.

However, an alternative theory has emerged, suggesting that “twin” may not be about a romantic relationship, but rather about a deep and emotional friendship, specifically, Jennie’s past connection with former idol Chahee from the girl group Melody Day. Jennie and Chahee first met in high school, and from that point onward, they became very close friends, often seen supporting each other both in public and behind the scenes. Their friendship was widely known, and fans cherished their bond as a rare and genuine connection in the entertainment industry.

At one point, there were even rumors that Jennie and Chahee were planning to launch a fashion brand together in 2020, which excited many fans who loved both their personal styles and creative spirits. However, over the years, the two have not been seen together or publicly interacted in any way, which led fans to believe that they may have grown apart.

This distance has only deepened the curiosity of fans, who wonder whether the song “twin” is Jennie’s way of expressing the emotions tied to the friendship that once meant so much to her. The lack of public sightings or updates about their relationship has only heightened the sense of longing and nostalgia in Jennie’s lyrics, fueling the theory that “twin” could be a heartfelt tribute to a friendship that was once central to her life but has since faded away.

Fans have also pointed out subtle hints that “twin” could be referring to Chahee. Notably, around the 3:04 mark in the song, Jennie repeatedly sings “twin,” but at times, it sounds like she is saying “swim. In Korean, “swim” is pronounced “soo-young”, which happens to be Chahee’s real name, Park Soo-young.

Further adding to the speculation, when fans commented online that the song might be about Chahee, she responded by liking the post, seemingly confirming the theory. As this discussion spread on social media, many sympathized with Jennie, understanding that losing a close friend can be an indescribable pain.

Chahee, whose real name is Park Soo-young, is a former member of the girl group Melody Day. Born on March 6, 1996, in South Korea, she was a supporting vocalist in the group. Melody Day debuted in 2014 with a ballad concept before transitioning to various styles. Chahee gained attention for her sweet voice and delicate visuals, perfectly suited for emotional songs. After Melody Day disbanded in 2018, she pursued a solo career and became an influencer on social media.
