i-dle‘s (formerly known as (G)I-DLEMinnie finally addressed the rumors about her background. For years she has been known by fans as part of the Thai “Hi-Sso,” or high society, similar to chaebols in South Korea. Rumors of her royal lineage, her father being the vice-president of the first bank of Thailand, and her grandparents running a resort.

Minnie appeared on a talk show called Romantic Foreign Laborers and addressed the allegations. She first declared that she was not rich as there were many more people richer than her.

On the other hand, she admitted that her mother recently inherited the resort from her grandparents and is currently running it.

This already puts her at a good financial standing. As for the rumors that she was related to the royal family, Minnie ended up calling her mom about it and found out that it was not true.

Her father was indeed the vice-president of the Bank of Siam. Despite this, while in South Korea, many of the directorial positions such as vice-president is given to people related to the founders and holds strong power, in Thailand, the position can be earned through work. Her father was just an office worker there, albeit a high up one.

I’m not rich! It’s too much for me to straight up be like, ‘Hi, I’m rich!’ Also there’s way too many others who are richer. There was also too much talk about [my family’s royal lineage,] so I ended up calling my mother to check. As for my dad, he did work in a bank, but the notion of a VP in Thailand is different from Korea. As for the resort, my mom runs it now.
