Recently, LE SSERAFIM has become the subject of criticism due to a somewhat lackluster performance at the 2024 Coachella music festival. Despite being praised for visuals and stage presence, LE SSERAFIM did not perform well in the live singing aspect. Constantly dancing and singing at the same time, HYBE’s girl group seemed out of breath and off-pitch, with Sakura being one of the most controversial members. Many find it difficult to understand why an idol with over 15 years of experience like Sakura would deliver such a poor performance.
Adding fuel to the fire, the Japanese idol asserted that the Coachella stage was the best performance the group had ever done.
Miyawaki Sakura was born on March 19th, 1998 in Japan. She is a former member of the Japanese idol group HKT48. In 2018, Sakura participated in “Produce 48” and was chosen as the center in the show’s theme song “Nekkoya”. She finished 2nd overall and was active as a member of the girl group IZ*ONE for about 3 years. Subsequently, she became a member of LE SSERAFIM in 2022.
During “Produce 48”, Sakura also faced controversy multiple times due to her incomplete skills. For example, during the rehearsal for the stage “Very Very Very”, Sakura was assigned the center position. After watching the group’s performance, the judges were collectively disappointed.
Judge Soyou commented, “I really couldn’t focus on this group. Why is Sakura in the center position? Everything is ruined because of Sakura. Her pronunciation is not good, she dances very fast, out of rhythm. But she is the center. She didn’t do well! Why would you let someone who is not good take the center position?” At that time, the center position could not be changed anymore, so Sakura continued to hold that position.
