The behavior of LE SSERAFIM’s Hong Eunchae is once again under scrutiny following her misuse of Korean grammar, prompting questions about her academic level.
A viral tweet on X has amassed over 27 million views, 11.4k likes, and more than 24k retweets, bringing back a snippet from a LE SSERAFIM’s livestream on Weverse featuring from November 2023. Notably, in the video, Hong Eunchae displayed a somewhat sarcastic attitude when discussing fans’ experiences at school.

In the video, Hong Eunchae said: “You’ve been attending school for a while now, right? It must be quite challenging. Hang in there. You know how tough it can be, right?”
Initially appearing to offer encouragement, the idol’s words were accompanied by aegyo gestures and an apparently unserious tone. Immediately, the other members seemed taken aback by Eunchae’s attitude and remarks.
Numerous quote tweets in Korean and Japanese criticized Hong Eunchae’s behavior, asserting that she was not being serious but rather ridiculing the notion of attending school and casting doubt on her academic level.
Additionally, one account exposed that Hong Eunchae had failed the entrance exam for the music department at the prestigious Hanlim Arts School twice (before debuting with LE SSERAFIM), providing evidence, although the post has since been deleted.
Alongside the criticisms, many fans also defended Hong Eunchae that netizens’ reaction was excessive, suggesting that they were being overly critical of Hong Eunchae and empathizing with her debut at a relatively young age.
